St. Pete Little Raiders - Soccer for 3 & 4 year olds

PROGRAM DIRECTOR & HEAD TRAINER: PABLO SALAMANCA

Soccer is played by 250 million players in over 200 countries, making it the world’s most popular sport. There are many reasons for the growing popularity of the sport:

  • Accessibility – soccer can be played anywhere, with minimal equipment required.
  • Athleticism - there is no physical size advantage, and the sport offers great exercise for players at all levels.
  • Team Sport – encourages sportsmanship and cooperation, and builds respect on and off the field.
  • Simplicity – just a ball and a pitch, and a passion for the game.

Soccer has seen unbelievable growth as a popular children’s sport over the past several years in the U.S., and now stands as one of the most played sports by children in our country. This is highlighted by the tremendous increase in youth soccer clubs across the country, which show us that youth soccer clubs have a critical role to play not only in introducing children to the game, but also in building future soccer players.

St. Pete Little Raiders program philosophy is to deliver a technically–sound program in a fun learning environment, based on games and activities that will help initiate children into the game. Our key goal is to help children enjoy the sport and to cultivate a life-long love of the game. All training methods focus on basic coordination, sharpness with and without the ball, as well as good sportsmanship. All sessions consist of developmentally appropriate activities and our philosophy can be summed up in one word: FUN

The Little Raiders program has been carefully designed to reflect the needs and learning styles of the youngest players, with a focus on ensuring participation for all players. Coaches have the responsibility to create a safe and positive environment for players, and this includes adapting teaching techniques to ensure that all players can learn and develop. It is the Clubs goal to provide an enjoyable and non-stressful environment at all times for all players.

The St. Pete Raiders Little Raiders program is designed for children ages 3-4 years old. The program is fully coed, and we welcome children with all skill levels. Little Raiders coaches will work to adapt the program to fit each groups’ needs.

Little Raiders Soccer Program (Players age 3): focuses on games and activities with and without the ball. The sessions will consist of popular and well known games such as Freeze Tag, Red Light/Green Light, Simon Says, Follow the Leader, and Stuck in the Mud, with all adapted to the game of soccer. The program will gradually introduce dribbling as well coordination, agility and balance. All sessions are 30-40 minutes in duration.

Little Raiders Soccer Program (Players age 4): focuses on activities and games that are directly applicable to the “real” game. Players will experience dribbling, passing, change of direction and teamwork-centered games. At this age, players should be experiencing more scrimmage time and games that will involve scoring and getting lots of touches on the ball.
